Legal terms
Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using Tax Office OS ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). The Software is a product of Home Office OS LLC ("the Company", "we", "us"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Software.
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.
2. What the Software Is, and What It Is Not
Tax Office OS is a tax analysis application. Its calculations are deterministic and falsifiable: the same confirmed inputs produce the same outputs, and every computed figure can be traced to the inputs and steps that produced it.
The Software does not provide tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or investment advice. Its outputs are analysis of the information you provide, not a recommendation to act.
Software can contain defects. Before relying on any report, letter, or figure produced by the Software, and before filing any return or making any financial decision on the basis of its output, have that output verified by a licensed attorney and a qualified tax professional.
The Software includes an on-device AI assistant (Enzo), identified as an assistant in the interface. In its default configuration it runs entirely on your device; its optional external mode is described in the Privacy Policy.
We make no claims about the Software beyond those stated in this section.
3. Your Inputs and Your Review
The Software extracts information from documents you provide and presents every extracted field for your review and confirmation before analysis. You are responsible for the accuracy of the inputs you confirm. Analysis produced from inputs you have confirmed reflects those inputs.
4. License Grant
Subject to these Terms and payment of the applicable fees, the Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control. Two license types exist:
- Advisor subscription: an annual subscription for personal or professional use. License keys issued under a subscription carry an expiry aligned to the billing period.
- Report pass: a one-time purchase that unlocks deliverable generation for one client workspace, bound to that workspace when the pass is redeemed.
License keys are cryptographically signed and verified on your device. Keep your key; it is your proof of license.
5. Restrictions
You may not:
- Share, publish, resell, or distribute license keys
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Software
- Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or sell the Software
- Remove or alter proprietary notices
- Use the Software to develop a competing product
- Circumvent license verification or other technical controls
- Use the Software in any manner that violates applicable law
6. Privacy
The Software runs on your device. Your tax documents, extracted data, and analysis results are processed and stored locally and are never transmitted to the Company. The complete description of what can leave your device, all of it optional or user-triggered, is in the Privacy Policy. Your data belongs to you and can be exported at any time.
7. Payments, Renewal, and Refunds
- Payments are processed by Stripe. The Company never receives or stores your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current period.
- Refunds. Subscriptions: a full refund within 30 days of purchase, on request. Report passes: refundable within 30 days of purchase while unredeemed; once a pass is redeemed and bound to a client workspace, it is not refundable.
8. Professional Use
If you use the Software in a professional capacity, you are solely responsible for your client relationships, your professional and regulatory obligations, and your review of any deliverable before you provide it to a client. The Software processes your clients' information on your device only; the Company never receives it and is not a party to your client engagements.
9. Intellectual Property
The Software and its associated intellectual property are owned by Home Office OS LLC. Your use does not grant you any ownership interest. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Your data: you retain full ownership of all data you import, create, or generate with the Software. The Company claims no rights to it.
10. Warranties and Disclaimers
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Without limiting section 2, the Company does not warrant that the Software will be error-free, that its results will be accurate or complete, or that it will meet your requirements. Tax law changes; the Software computes only for the tax years its published rules cover.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company, its members, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Software. In no event shall the Company's total aggregate liability exceed the amount you paid to the Company in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; there, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Software at any time. Your locally stored data remains on your device and is unaffected; we have no access to it. The Company may terminate your license if you violate these Terms; upon termination your license ceases and you must uninstall the Software.
13. Security Contact
Report suspected security vulnerabilities to security@taxofficeos.app. We address confirmed vulnerabilities and communicate security advisories to affected users.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
