Traceability
Every number opens.
Click any figure in the report and it shows its own derivation: the formula, the inputs, and which line of the return each input came from. Nothing in the output is a black box, and nothing is a placeholder standing in for a number we could not compute. Below is the shape of one derivation, and it is the one behind the card on the front page.
From income to line 16
- Adjusted gross income $143,250
- Deduction applied $29,200
- Taxable income $114,050
Ordinary slice, taxed in the brackets
Preferential slice, taxed at 0, 15, or 20 percent
The preferential slice is line 3a qualified dividends of $18,000 plus line 7 net long-term gain of $24,000. The two taxes add to line 16.
Computed on this device
$11,182
As reported on the return

Figures are the app's own output for its built-in demo client, a fictional retired couple filing jointly for 2024. A calculation with one right answer is reported as one number. Where an output is a projection rather than a calculation, such as a Monte Carlo run, the app labels it a range and never dresses it up as a certainty.
